For over 20 years Dennis and Melody have served at Baptist Theological College in the Province of Cebu, Phillippines. Dennis is now the Dean of the Graduate School and also Chairman of the Baptist General Conference Philippine Mission. Melody is Director of the Learning Resources Center and teaches "Psychology of Learning", which prepares freshmen for their first semester to survive in college.
News from the Nordines:
We walked the 100 steps down the gravel road to our apartment building looking forward to getting a good night’s rest after a wonderful long weekend at the Annual BGC Missionary Field Council. There was a small crowd gathered just outside our door—a welcoming committee? But their faces were not welcoming; instead, they looked shocked and fearful. Just 30 minutes earlier a young man had attempted to break into our apartment. He tore lose the corner of our screen and reached between security bars to get to the door handle. He could unlock and turn it but did not realize that our deadbolt lock takes a key on the inside as well as the outside. He had worked quietly, but broke one jealousy window; the neighbor who walked past wondered what was happening and went to the owners for help. Foiled, the young man slipped away—no one knows quite how without being noticed by any residents of the other seven apartments in our little community.
Dennis just got back from spending time with 15 of our Filipino missionaries in their locations in Cambodia and Thailand. He has pages and pages of stories to tell—3 converts here—6 new believers there—15 leadership graduates over there—3 men baptized in that place. WOW! God is using Bethlehem Star of Peace missionaries and Dennis got to see it first-hand.
Now back at BTC we have only Final Exams and Commencement. After a short break for planning and Holy Week, we start summer classes April 5. Pray that the right men and women will come to be prepared to be better equipped for service to Him.
