DESCRIPTION

When you develop an up perspective both the troubles and the treasures of this world are not comparable to the glory of heaven. That's what the Apostle Paul wrote to the early Roman believers. What problems could Christians have who lived in the capital of the world's greatest empire? Let me describe their plight in one word, Nero. Add the fact that nearly 90% of Rome's residents were slaves and you end up with a picture of the average Christian being persecuted, marginalized, voiceless and without an advocate. Imagine waking up to that each morning. They were learning (here's the BIG IDEA) focusing on the coming blessings of heaven diminished the impact of daily nasty experiences and the lure of fading treasures here on earth.
